Career Notes Sept 2018
Hello everyone and welcome back to school! Check out the important Career and Off Campus info below:
Dual Credit - Biology? Welding? Anatomy and Physiology?
Dual Credit courses allow students to take courses at one of our local post-secondary institutions and get dual credit - post-secondary credit and high school credit, without paying post-secondary tuition. This year we have students taking classes at SAIT and Ambrose University, and we have plans to expand the courses offered. We would appreciate your feedback about what courses might be of most interest. Please click the link below to send us your thoughts.
Planning for life after high school
If you’re planning to continue your education after high school (and I hope you are!), check out the calendar in the link below to find out when various post-secondary institutions are hosting their Open House events. Many institutions also offer tours and “Student for a Day” options at other times as well. Check their websites or contact Mrs. Foster for more details.
I’d also be glad to meet with students (and parents) to answer questions you might have about post-secondary options, admission requirements, etc. You can schedule an appointment at cfoster.youcanbook.me. It’s never too early to start this conversation (even if you’re in grade nine!).
Work Experience Credit
Working and volunteering provide rich learning opportunities. Because of that, students can earn work experience credits for working or volunteering. If you are 15 years or older and you’re interested, please click the link to provide some pre-registration information. Keep in mind that you will need to complete the short HCS3000 Workplace Safety course, and submit some important paperwork BEFORE you can start counting your hours.
As always, please contact me if you have any questions.
