Art Camps! by our own CCS Parent

If you are looking for something fun to keep your kids busy during PD days, consider sending them to one or all of the following art camps. These are a great opportunity for kids to receive challenging art instruction in a fun and relaxed environment. We get to know each other, play art games, listen to music and encourage creativity in each other. Please email jendeboer1@gmail.com for more info. Read on and consider trying it out. I would love to meet your kids!

TOWERS OF DONUTS: CLAY and PLAY 2-day camp

OCT 20-21, 9am-3pm at EMMANUEL CRC
COST: $120 per student, ages K-6

          15 spots available

We'll be whipping up some glazed clay desserts and other food creations a la artist Wayne Thiebaud, focusing on the forms and colours of pop art. We will draw and paint some larger than life food items, such as soup cans and candy wrappers with an emphasis on bold shapes and bright colours.
Please be sure your child has adequate art attire, a full lunch and water bottle. Edible donuts will be provided on both days so we don't drool too much over the faux desserts . Please alert me to any food allergies!! Please email jendeboer1@gmail.com to register.

FRIDAY DRAWING/OPEN STUDIO ART LABS at Emmanuel CRC

           NOV 4, 18, 25 and Dec 2nd, 2-4pm.

           15 spots available

Cost for all 4 sessions is $75 or individual drop-in for $20 per session. Our projects will be inspired by the art of Georgia O'Keefe and glass artist Dale Chihuly. Students will work to complete large pastel paintings as well as dabble in 3-D sculpture making with various materials like coffee filters, wire and glass beads. Each lesson will consist of one hour of formal instruction and one 'flexible' hour for students to work on given projects, or work independently on their own creation. All supplies are provided including a light snack.

LIVING LARGE: FACES & FIGURES ART WORKSHOP

          NOV 14, from 9am-3pm

          COST: $50 per student

           20 spots available

We will look at artists like Picasso and Keith Haring to inspire our own 'larger than life' faces and figure sculptures. Students will use pastels, acrylic paint, wire and cardboard for their creations. Please send a lunch and make sure kids are appropriately dressed for getting messy! A JOLLY HOLIDAY ART PARTY will be held early in December, so you can get some shopping, or volunteering or resting done. Stay tuned for details posted on the community page.
