Support Teens while cheering on the Hitmen!

Hello CCS Community,

We would like to invite you to support the ConnecTeen program providing crisis support to our Calgary youth, through our annual Calgary Hitmen game event. The game will be on Sunday March 12, 2017 at the Saddledome, and 2$ of every ticket sold will go towards ensuring 24/7 services are available for the youth.

By way of background, ConnecTeen, originally called Teen Line, was first introduced in 1983 which was one of the first in Canada to provide peer-to-peer support. The program was designed to reach out to Canadian youth in distress in an approachable manner. In 2011, Teen Line was revamped as ConnecTeen, which added additional online services including support via chat, email, and text messages.

In 2015, over 3016 teenagers in distress reached out to ConnecTeen for support. The top issues that ConnecTeen assists teens with includes suicide, anxiety, depression, education and mental health. Accordingly, this local program has touched hundreds of lives through the hard work of our volunteers who provide 24 hour crisis support for any youth in any crisis. Although primarily based in Calgary, approximately 30% of the callers reside in areas outside of the city.

ConnecTeen is driven by its volunteers and donations, and in order to continue providing essential social support to our teens, we require the support of the community. For 12$, you can purchase a ticket to the Calgary Hitmen game, and by doing so directly supports ConnecTeen. Tickets may be purchased online at ticketmaster.ca by looking up the game date of March 12, 2017 and then enter our code 'TEEN' for the discount.  Buying tickets or sponsoring tickets would be much appreciated.
