2018 Floor Hockey Tournament

Tournament will open with a special address from Olympian, Chandra Crawford!

We had such a good time at the 3rd floor hockey tournament on March 22! CCS hosted 5 schools and special guests, including gold medal Olympian, Chandra Crawford. All monies raised will go to WinSport's newcomer program to try sport on snow and ice!  You can read all about the exciting event HERE on Palliser's webpage.

On March 23, 2017 special guest speaker, Olympian Catriona LeMay Doan opened our second annual Floor Hockey Tournament. Proceeds from this tournament will go to WinSport "better than yesterday".

May 4, 2017 was the big reveal and it was very exciting as our floor hockey tournament raised $9446.69!  BUT we heard from John Francis at WinSport, they had a supporter who was inspired by our fundraising event and matched the money! So the total for new Canadians on ice and and snow is now $19,446.69.  Yay, we're so excited for everyone!

Catriona LeMay Doan: “Never Give Up.”

On Thursday, March 23, 2017 our very own CCES Floor Hockey Team hosted our second annual floor hockey tournament! This event is for fun and to make new friends. The organization we partnered with was Winsport. Winsport is a not for profit organization that help athletes achieve their goals through sports.

Catriona Le May Doan came to our school and gave an enthusiastic speech on how to trust in yourself, follow your passion, to keep on trying and to not give up when you fall or lose. One of her stories that I liked was when she was training for a long time to go to the Olympics and she thought “I am going to win a medal, my parents are going to be so proud of me, I’m the 5th fastest in the world and I’m going to come home with a medal”!  The upcoming race she fell and was dead last on the leaderboard. But she didn’t give up and trained for another four years and won gold!

I think this taught the students to never give up!  I think the students will remember this day for a long time.
